Do you have old paint cans, motor oil, or cleaning chemicals sitting around your home or shed? Don’t toss them in the trash! There’s a safer (and free) way to get rid of them—and it's happening right here in Central Texas.

📍 What’s Happening?
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is coming to Killeen! This is your chance to safely dispose of toxic and dangerous household materials—for free.
🗓️ Date: Saturday, May 3, 2025
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Special Events Center – 3301 South W.S. Young Drive, Killeen, TX
✅ What You Can Bring (Free to Drop Off)
Here’s what’s accepted at no charge for disposal:
Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
Acids and household chemicals
Antifreeze (up to 5 gallons)
Used motor oil (up to 5 gallons)
Paint (up to 10 gallons)
Petroleum-based products
Household cleaning supplies
Pesticides and herbicides
Batteries
These items can be dangerous if thrown in regular trash bins. This event gives you a safe, responsible way to protect your home and environment.
❌ What NOT to Bring
The following items will not be accepted:
Electronics
Smoke detectors or fire alarms
Explosives or ammunition
Pressurized containers
Tires or trailers
Who Can Participate? This event is open to residents of the following counties:
Bell
Coryell
Hamilton
Lampasas
Milam
Mills
San Saba
Just bring proof of residency—like a driver’s license or utility bill—and you’re good to go!

Living in a rural area like Florence, Lampasas, or Briggs, it’s not always easy to find a place to safely dispose of hazardous household waste. This free event helps keep our communities cleaner, our soil and water safer, and our homes free of dangerous chemicals.
